Sounion Capital Management

Seeking return with a disciplined regard for risk

We work with qualified investors who value discipline, patience, and a clearly defined process.

About

Sounion Capital Management started trading in 2014 with a Separately Managed Account. In 2023, we launched our commingled fund that was reworked into a Cayman master-feeder in 2025.

Sounion's investment objective is to seek to achieve superior risk-adjusted total returns by investing primarily in public and private non-investment grade and unrated debt securities.

Strategy

At its core, our approach is about finding situations where price and value have become disconnected. We focus on debt securities where our assessment of an issuer's earnings potential and underlying asset value suggests the market has got the price wrong. That can create opportunities on both sides — buying securities we believe are undervalued and, selectively, shorting those that look overvalued or where fundamentals are deteriorating.

Those opportunities change as the credit cycle evolves, so we actively adjust the portfolio to reflect where we see the best risk-adjusted returns. We are particularly interested in periods when market sentiment becomes stretched and prices move away from fundamentals.

Ultimately, we aim to generate returns in two ways: as prices move back toward intrinsic value, and through the income and repayments we receive while holding a position. Throughout, capital preservation is central — reflected in how we size positions, diversify the portfolio and concentrate capital in opportunities where we have the highest conviction.
